2010 Lone Star State Scholars Night @ the Ballpark

It's back! After rave reviews and a huge crowd for our first three Lone Star State Scholars Night at the ballpark, we are following through on our promise to continue the tradition and have another night this year. We heard so many kind notes and comments from people who traveled from all over the state to be part of this special event. We're happy to say, we're going to have another great event in 2010!

We are still finalizing all the details but will post them when they are set. We will again hold our pre-game "Salute to The Scholars" where Scholars and their families (who purchase tickets through Lone Star State Scholars) will be invited to a special event. While we won't know the details until later, we expect this to include special appearances from former Texas Rangers, performances from Scholars, giveaways and other fun happenings!

Special PreGame Ceremony to Honor Scholars
Prior to the game at the Ballpark @ Arlington, Scholars will take part in a special ceremony in which the Scholars will be honored. We are still in the process of planning this event but in the past we have had both Ranger alumni, current Rangers players, the Six Shooters (Ranger cheerleaders), and the Ranger Mascot on hand. We expect Rangers alumni to be on hand to speak and/or sign autographs for Scholars and their families only. Details for this event are still being finalized and will be updated on this web site when it is known.

Free Hat to Scholars, Friends and Family
For each baseball ticket purchased through Lone Star State Scholars, you will receive a free Texas Rangers baseball hat at our Salute to Scholars event. This is the Rangers way of saying "Congratulations Scholars." Hats will be picked up as you arrive for the Salute to Scholars event. You will receive as many hats as tickets you purchase... ie. buy four tickets, receive four hats! Thus, not only do the Scholars go home with a special prize... but so does the whole family!

Seats
Lone Star State Scholars will sit in two different areas of the stadium so that you have a choice of seats for your enjoyment and family budget. The Corner Box Seats ($40) are lower level seats that have a great view and foul-ball catching possibilities. Upper Box Seats ($20) provide a more economical way to enjoy the game with a good vantage point in the upper deck.

GameDay T-Shirts Available
Again this year, you will have a chance to buy a special commemorative t-shirt for the event. You'll see many Scholars and their families wearing this popular t-shirt. (Pictures on this web site contain shirts from previous years). T-Shirts will be shipped prior to the game so participants may wear them to the game. Cost of the T-Shirt is $13.45.

Ticket Processing Fee: Your order will incur a $9 ticket processing fee that includes putting together your order and any shipping and handling regardless of how many tickets or shirts you may order. (This compares very favorably to ordering tickets online through Ticketmaster (where you would not be eligible to participate in the Scholars special events) and you would pay a $1.75 order processing fee plus a ticket fee of $4.00 (Corner box) or $3.75 (Bleacher) per ticket!)

Hotel Information

Lone Star State Scholars has secured a limited number of hotel rooms for Scholars coming in from out-of-town and a special discounted rate at the Crowne Plaza Suites Arlington. The room is perfect for families to stay in. Each room is a suite featuring one room with either a king bed or two doubles, and a pull-out full size sleeper sofa in the other room. There are two TVs in each suite (one in the bedroom and one in the other room) as well as a refrigerator and free wireless Internet. The hotel features the only indoor pool in Arlington and has two restaurants. The hotel is located 2.5 miles from the ballpark. Lone Star State Scholars has received a discounted rate of $99 per night (regular $169). These rooms are available on a first-come, first served basis so make your reservations ASAP. As the date is fast approaching and a lot of rooms have been reserved, please contact Sales Manager Steve Lewis directly at 817.394.5800 and ask for the Lone Star State Scholars rate of $99. He will personally handle your reservation. If you receive his answering machine, please leave a message and he will call you back.
