Thank you for participating
in this year's Lone Star State Scholars application process and using our online
Nomination Form.
Lone Star State Scholars has been established to allow students the opportunity
to receive positive affirmation for what is so important at this age: a willingness
and excitement to learn, a desire to be involved, and an enthusiasm towards
community service.
- Spread the word to or
your colleagues who teach in grades 3-8 and send them to this web page.
- Students are nominated
to be Lone Star State Scholars by their teacher. Each teacher may nominate any student that they feel meets the criteria stated in the fourth bullet below. We do not accept nominations from anyone other
than teachers or principals. (Parents may not nominate their children).
- After nominating a student,
letters will be sent to you to forward to your students. At that time, they
will formally have the opportunity to apply to be named a Lone Star State
Scholar. There is no charge for the student to receive this designation. A
book will be compiled with an "honor roll" featuring the names of
all Lone Star State Scholars plus a short biography on each student.
- Nominated students should
hold at least a B average. The student should exhibit good character and be
a well-rounded person, involved in the extra-curriculars or activities outside
of school.
